Ration Your Halloween Candy!

October 31, 2013

After a night of ghoulish fun, a good number of kids head home and dig into their stash of collected sweets. Your Orange County orthodontist, Dr. Maruko and her team, would like to remind parents to remind their children to steer clear of the sticky, chewy kinds of candy to avoid broken wires and brackets. There are a few things you can do to help their teeth stay in great shape until the candy is gone:

  • Limit the amount of candy they can consume each day

  • Have them brush their teeth after eating candy

  • Avoid hard, chewy candies as they can stick in hard to brush places

  • Keep candy out of sight to reduce temptation

  • Help or encourage your children to floss
